James Bowen
James Bowen began his artistic voyage into the world of mosaics several years ago. Fascinated by the art history, he admired the ancient mosaics that the Roman Empire spread across the land in their epic quest. Bowen explains. “Mosaics are timeless and are some of the oldest art forms that exist. They capture light like no other medium.” He trained in New York City and Ravenna, Italy.
In 2001, Bowen introduced mosaic art to Cape Cod, teaching his craft at The Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill and then through private workshops. He created the mosaic program at Cape Cod Community College and stills presides there as adjunct professor. He is also teaching at The Falmouth Art Center.
His work has can be seen at Color Obsession Gallery in Mashpee, Bojangles Int’l in Falmouth and various art associations and fine art shows. Permanent installations can be found at Cape Cod Community College, Truro Center for the Arts, various restaurants on Cape Cod and at private homes here and abroad.
